Christmas on Cockrell’s Creek will
be celebrated this year on

Saturday - December 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday - December 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Celebrating our fishing and farming heritage is the them for this year's
event with historic and new homes festively decorated by the ladies
of the Chesapeake Bay Garden Club.
Get an inside look at Reedville’s traditional
fishing heritage with a visit to four vintage Victorian-era homes in
historic Reedville. Park and walk to these homes clustered just beyond
the museum and all its attractions. Boat shuttle service from Main Street
to the Old Whaley Farmhouse will be available. In addition, your ticket
will also include a narrated boat tour of Cockrell's Creek, weather
permitting.
Then stroll through the vineyards of Athena Winery
just off Route 200 on the land of the historic Edge Hill Plantation
which once encompassed over 6,000 acres. Visit the winery, tasting room,
and two striking homes high above the Great Wicomico River, including
Edge Hill built c. 1832. Parking available at the tasting room or on
Edge Hill Road. Golf cart shuttles will also be available.

| The
Miriam Haynie House
616 Main Street
This home is historic Reedville’s second-oldest
house, after the museum’s Walker House. It will be opened
by new owners Elizabeth and Ron Andrews of Richmond. Built in
1875 by G.T. Robinson it was owned for over seventy years by Reedville
artist and author Miriam Haynie and her husband. The Andrews have
furnished this rustic-feel home with its knotty pine walls in
antique and comfortable pieces. Miss Miriam’s paintings
and other artworks will also be on display.

| The
Varanes McFarland House
621 Main Street

The
Varanes McFarland house was built c. 1885. It has been extensively
restored by Cheryl and Skip McPherson since they purchased it
just a year ago. You’ll enjoy their whimsical touches, salvaged
and re-purposed architectural materials including bookcases, doors,
iron fence panels, and a banister made from old oars.

The
DiVivi Home

Street

Debbie
and Rick DeVivi are opening their home, known as the Grover Lewis
House. This home built in the early 1900’s has been lovingly
restored and features warm pine floors and country antiques in
pine and oak |
| The
Old Whaley Farmhouse
110 Whaley Lane
The
Old Whaley Farm House at 110 Whaley Lane is a pretty boat ride
away around Crowder Point. Built in the 1890’s on a beautiful
point of land, this home has been added onto over the years, yet
it still retains its cozy farmhouse feel with low ceilings and
country antiques. New owners Carol and Tom Muratore from Glen
Allen will also display Carol’s portraits and landscapes
including a print she has contributed to the museum.

Athena
Vineyards and Winery

Athena
Vineyards was started in 2002 by three friends active in the Health
Care industry. The winery was built in 2005 and is the first commercial
winery in Northumberland County. Over 14 acres of vineyards growing
a dozen varieties of grapes overlook the Great Wicomico River.
Enjoy winery tours and tastings of their award-winning wines.
Here you can park and walk. Leave your car at either the Athena
Winery tasting room on Route 200 or along Edge Hill Road, and
walk along internal roads through the vineyards to visit the winery
and both open homes. Golf cart shuttles will also be available.
Tickets for the house tours will be avalable here on tour days.

The
Athena Winery House

The
owners’ home at 476 Edge Hill Road is also open for the
tour. Built in the French chateau style, this spectacular new
home is a showcase for their collections of artworks and objects
brought home from their many trips to Asia and Africa. |
| Edge
Hill
120 River Hill Road
Opened
by owners Christine and Michael Wiggins, Edge Hill, is a stately
federal style home built in1832 for W.H. Harding, and was once
the centerpiece of Edge Hill Farm Plantation encompassing over
6,000 acres (including the current winery and several homes.)
It was purchased by Jessie Ball and Alfred duPont in the 1920’s
and presented to her sister. Recent owners Ruth and Odis Cockrell
had the home moved closer to the edge of the bluff and undertook
a meticulous restoration. The Wiggins who purchased the home last
year, have furnished it with their collection of antique furniture
and oriental carpets and artwork acquired on their travels around
the world.

Season Events
at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum
The Northern Neck Railroad Exhibit
• Over 100 feet of track layout and scale model buildings depicting
bygone days in the villages of Reedville, Heathsville, Irvington and
White Stone. Fun for railroad buffs of all ages! $5 adults, $3 seniors,
children 12 and under free. Open 10:30 - 4:30 Fridays through
Sundays from the Friday after Thanksgiving through December 14; daily
the week between Christmas and New Year's; and weekends in January through
January 11th
Breakfast
with Santa • December 13t at 9:00am • Santa
will arrive aboard the "Elva C" at the museum dock and proceed
with the children to Bethany United Methodist Church. Donuts and juice
will be served as Santa sits in his special chair in front of the fireplace
and passes out bags of candy to all the children. Please bring your
camera!! (Event
co-sponsored by Bethany United Methodist Church)
Boat Shuttle and Narrated Harbor Tours •
Boat
shuttle service from Main Street to the Old Whaley Farmhouse will be
available. In addition, your ticket will also include a narrated boat
tour of Cockrell's Creek, weather permitting..
Festival
Holiday "Tablescapes" • The Northern
Neck's most talented designers have created individually decorated table
settings all set for a special festive event. Museum admission $5 or
included in the Christmas Homes Tour ticket.

Bake Sale • Stop in at the museum’s
pantry and bake sale in the Covington Building (museum) lobby and stock
up on home-made treats for the holidays. Goodies include homemade candy,
breads, cakes, pies, cookies, jams, jellies, and pickles.

Block tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the
tour and include admission to all houses, museum exhibits, and
boat shuttle. VISA and MC accepted at the museum office for
