2018’s Independence Day Activities: We’re celebrating in style!
The Reedville Fourth of July Committee is once again hard at work preparing for the annual Reedville Independence Day Celebration. This 2-day event is fun for children of all ages! On Saturday, July 7th, rain or shine, the Celebration will begin with the 15th Annual Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk followed by kids’ games at the Museum at 10am, cruises on the Claud W. Somers, music by Russ at the gazebo, the annual Hometown Parade on Main Street at 3 pm and FIREWORKS over Cockrell’s Creek at 9pm! On Sunday the 8th, the Patriotic music performance will be held at 3pm at Festival Halle. The tentative schedule of events includes:
Saturday, July 7th:
- 5k Firecracker Fun Rune & Walk: starts at 8am at Festival Halle! $25 registration fee includes a t-shirt!
- Kids Activities (free), food, and great music at the RFM campus from 10am-1pm
- Schedule for Kids Events: 10-12:00 (times subject to change)
- 10-12: Boats in the Water (build your own toy sailboat)
- 10-12: Tattoos
- 10-12:00: Face Painting
- 10-12: Build a light house: hands-on craft
- 10:30-11:30: Sack Races
- 11-12:00: Pie Eating Contest
- 11:30-12:00: Egg Toss
- 12-12:30: Firetruck Hose Down
- The model trains will be running from 10 am to 3 pm!!
- 4th of July Main Street Parade: 3pm
- Fireworks on Cockrell’s Creek: 9pm
Reedville Independence Day Celebration Sponsorships Available!
The Artist’s Arena is scheduled to begin at 10:00am Saturday morning and will conclude after the infamous Hometown Parade down Main Street. The Artist’s Arena consists of 12X12 lawn spaces in front of the parsonage next to Bethany United Methodist Church on Main Street. Spaces will be pre-assigned upon receipt of your application and check. Please make your tax-deductible check payable to The Greater Reedville Association in the amount of $25.00 per space. Please include your email address. Confirmation of your reservation will be returned by email. This donation is not refundable.
Upon request only, pre-show set up will be available on Friday evening, July6th. We do not provide security and will not be responsible for items left overnight. Someone will be available Saturday morning beginning at 8:00am to help you find your space. Remember – Main Street will be closed Saturday morning for the 5k Fun Run and will not reopen until 10 am so come early if you need to setup on Saturday morning! Exhibitors are responsible for bringing all necessary materials for set up including tables and chairs. Exhibitors are also responsible for cleaning their spaces after the event. For the safety of all, disassembly of sites will not be permitted until 4:00pm (after the Hometown Parade). Please call the Museum at (804) 453-6529 to register for your booth space.
